Creating character backstories is always fun, but let's not forget it's also a very important part of the development process of any theatrical work. A ‘backstory’ is a literary device dramatists use to give their character and story arcs a sense of history. Backstories imagine characters’ past lives, environments and the events that take place before the main narrative of the story.
